You may have heard about someone who downloaded a new song, a movie clip, or even a program and ended up getting a horrible virus that wiped out their computer. These stories may make you very wary about downloading anything of the internet, but not every download contains a virus. If you only download programs from reputable websites, you shouldn’t have to worry about destroying your computer. Also, don’t download any file you think may be illegal or created by a source you aren’t familiar with. In addition to taking these precautions, always keep your virus scanner up to date so that if you do download an infected file, you will know it right away and will be able to take the necessary steps to protect your computer.
