If you have noticed that your laptop gets a lot hotter than when you bought it then continue reading this to find out why and how to fix it. Symptoms of overheating include frequent shutdowns, that’s when the laptop will suddenly shutdown and also the bottom getting very hot. When overheating occurs, the laptop shuts itself down to prevent any damage to the internal components like the CPU, RAM and the motherboard. So its a good thing for your laptop. Dust build-up can be a cause of overheating. Over time dust will collect through the laptop vents and accumulate preventing proper cooling. A damaged fan can also cause over heating. Fans inside the laptop do the job of cooling and if one stops then that affects the air flow.
A solution to this overheating problem can be buying cooling pads. There are a lot of brands of external cooling pads that you just plug into the USB port and does the cooling. Another fix is buying compressed air cans and blowing it through the vents to remove the dust. Compressed air cans can be found at major stores like Walmart, Bestbuy etc. If nothing works then you will have to open the laptop and see if the fan doesn’t work and replace it. So if you have this problem then consider the solutions mentioned above.
